Deputy President William Ruto yesterday found himself sharing details of a dramatic face-off that unfolded between him and his boss.
In the shocking revelation, the deputy president also went ahead to lay it open that the confrontation took place in front of the National Intelligence Service agency boss, Phillip Wachira Kameru.
Regardless of whether the revelation was by design, or from a brief fit of temper by the deputy president, this major admission is likely to be a strong talking point in the coming days among both friends and foes.
Ironically, this huge revelation, which is expected to be viewed as disrespectful to the president by some, came about as William Ruto was trying to explain why and how he had never been disrespectful to the president.
Deputy President William Ruto was responding to accusations of insubordination, and whether it is true that he had indeed been disrespectful to the president.
This was during a lengthy and intense interview that the DP had with Citizen TV live from his official residence in Karen. The interview was conducted by seasoned and veteran journalist, Linus Kaikai.
Rejecting claims that he had ever been disrespectful to the president, Dr. William Ruto went ahead to explain that this was an issue which he had even confronted the president about.
Ruto went ahead to claim that the exchange between him and the president in fact took place right before the intelligence boss, Phillip Wachira Kameru.
He said that he personally asked the president whether he could name even one single instance that he, the DP, had been disrespectful to him. DP Ruto then added that at this point, he even roped in Kameru who was present, posing the same question to him, asking him whether he was privy to any information of him being disrespectful to the president.
Ruto said that when the president finally answered, he did so in the negative, saying that indeed the deputy president had never been disrespectful to him.
