Rigathi Gachagua Reveals How He Spent Millions On President Kenyatta’s Campaigns In 2013 And 2017

Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has now revealed how he spent millions in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaigns during the 2013 and 2017 Presidential polls.

Speaking during an interview on Monday 2 August, Gachagua claimed that the Head of State approached him before the 2013 polls and asked him to finance his campaign which he agreed and offered his support.

Gachagua also stated that during the Presidential elections repeat, he told President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto that he was going to sponsor their campaigns and rallies in the Nyeri region.

The lawmaker reportedly acquired campaign cars, fabricatedcted billboards, mobilized people to campaign for President Kenyatta’s re-election.

The lawmaker, however, refused to reveal the exact amount of money he used to fund President Kenyatta campaigns.

“In 2013, Uhuru came to me and I asked me to fund to his campaigns and nobody had an issue with me. I gave money to him as a friend. In 2017 during the repeat Presidential elections,” he started.

“I told DP Ruto and Uhuru and leave Nyeri for me, where I used my money. I used millions to get cars, I erected billboards and mobilized people to run the campaigns,” Gachagua added.

Gachagua further revealed that he had earlier worked as the President’s Assistant in 2002 after the current President picked him from the business world.

Gachagua also claimed that the plan to block DP Ruto from traveling to Uganda was hatched during a meeting held over the weekend at one of the top government official’s home.

Mathira MP added that another plan to block DP Ruto from touring the Mt Kenya region was also on the meeting agenda.
