Mathira Constituency Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua as finally spoken after a dramatic arrest by the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Rigathi Gachagua reportedly got arrest at his home in Nyeri over alleged misappropriation of public funds amounting to12 billion Kenya shillings.
Taking to his Facebook page while being transferred from Nyeri to Nairobi, the lawmaker noted that he was happy with the government’s action to arrest him asserting that he has gone through a lot being arrested without being taken to the court to answer the allegations laid against him for the past two years.
“I am happy it is finally over, it has been two years of hell, being arrested and released, writing countless statements, being prosecuted in the media, intimidation, harassment to me and family,” he stated.
Referring to the recently concluded Kiambaa parliamentary by-election where the UDA candidate Njuguna Wanjiku beat the Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama, he expressed his bitterness posing if they will arrest all the Kiambaa voters.
“I played a minimal role, I have no vote in Kiambaa. Will you arrest all the voters in Kiambaa?” he posed.
The lawmaker also added that his innocence will be proved in the long run, pledging his loyalty and support to Deputy President William Ruto.
“I am not cowed or intimidated. I remain principled and consistent. My support for William Ruto remains steadfast and unshaken,” he added.
