REVEALED: How Raila’s confidants plan to have him rule for at least one term

New details have emerged on plans to have the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga rule for at least one term.

The ODM Chief has not opened up over succession plans in 2022 and has also refused to confirm whether he will run for the country’s top seat now for the fifth time or not.

Raila’s confidants, however, have maintained that opposition leader is fit to succeed President Uhuru Kenya and lead Kenya as he has the opportunity to capitalize on the handshake partnership with the president and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report to find his way to the top seat.

Speaking during an interview with the Daily Nation, Raila’s elder brother Oburu Odinga, on Friday 3 July spilled the beans that Raila’s close associates are considering throwing their weight behind Raila to succeed his handshake partner even for one five-year term.

“We have not bowed out of the 2022 race. We don’t see any person who can pose a challenge to Raila and that is why we are saying that let him be president for even one term,” Oburu disclosed.

Oburu’s statement was also seconded by ODM sources privy to the ongoing plans, adding that it would be effective to have the African Union Special Envoy of Infrastructure rule for one only term, and two terms if possible.

“In this arrangement between ODM, Jub,ilee and KANU, you see that KANU ruled for a record 40 years Jubilee has had 10 by 2022. Therefore, ODM being a partner in this and the single largest party after Jubilee stands a better chance to take over the mantle now that we have not been in power, unlike our friends,” the inside sources asserted.
