Reports emerge of OKA stalemate as Mudavadi plans to form new outfit called Kenya Kwanza

The twists and turns that continue to rock the One Kenya Alliance, OKA, outfit point to a complicated web of suspicion and mistrust among the coalition principals, according to the latest allegations. Reportedly, at the heart of the matter happens to be concerns by some quarters within OKA that some of the principals may be having secret meetings with other political players.

The Standard Group reported that former Vice-president, Kalonzo Musyoka is apparently the one in possession of the registration certificate of the One Kenya Alliance party. To compound this, there has been suspicion brewing in the outfit that he has been holding talks with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga concerning a future possible working arrangement between the two.

The Standard Group reported that following alleged negotiations between Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga, Musalia has grown uncomfortable with the entire arrangement of OKA. However, he finds himself in a sticky position since the former Vice-president is said to be in possession of the OKA papers. This has caused Mudavadi to consider forming a new coalition outfit known as Kenya Kwanza.
Mudavadi’s camp has refuted these claims, maintaining that they are only interested in securing the OKA name so that spoilers don’t run away with the party.

It is worth noting that back in 2007, Kalonzo Musyoka entered into a coalition with Raila Odinga known as the Orange Democratic Movement Kenya party. The two, nevertheless, had a falling out months to the election. What Raila perhaps hadn’t prepared for was the fact that the ODM Kenya registration papers where in possession of Dan Maanzo who was a Kalonzo Musyoka loyalist. Eventually, Maanzo handed over the party ownership papers to Kalonzo, leaving Raila stranded. In a rushed effort to quickly cobble up a party, the former Prime Minister bought a party called ODM from a gentleman by the names Mugambi Imanyara. Luckily for Raila Odinga, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and the party has stood the test of time to date.
