Rongai Member of Parliament Raymond Moi has spoken for the first time days after Baringo Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted against the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill.
Raymond Moi who hails from Baringo County and a brother to Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is among Kieleweke Members of Parliament who has been drumming support for the BBI bill.
Rongai law maker has today Friday, February 13 2021 called upon the residents of Baringo County to vote out all MCAs who voted against the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill.
Moi was speaking during a public rally in Nakuru County where he stated that the MCAs who rejected the BBI bill should be punished. He also noted that Baringo law makers voted against the BBI bill and yet the region is very poor.
“Baringo is a very poor county and they are rejecting the BBI bill and they are MCAs. Let me get to Baringo, it is the MCAs who have rejected the bill not the people. They will see us, we will be on a groundwork. I want to tell the people to vote out all the MCAs who opposed the bill. Vote them out in 2022,” Raymond stated.
While speaking in the same event, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who is also the KANU chairman noted that the reasons given by some of the MCAs to cause chaos and reject the BBI Bill was fake.
KANU secretary-general Nick Salat on his part claimed that the MCAs were working on instructions from certain quarters.
Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio blamed Baringo Members of County Assembly for having voted against the BBI bill.
“MCAs wa Baringo jana walipiga kura kwa hasira, na leo wanalaumiana, karibu wanapigana.” Poghisio stated.
This comes after Baringo County, a County perceived to be Gideon Moi’s strong hold became the first County to reject the BBI Bill after its Members of County Assembly (MCAs) voted no for the bill.
