Raphael Tuju moves to terminate the ruling party’s deal with PDR

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 wrote a letter to the Registrar of political parties terminating the coalition agreement between the ruling party and Development and Reforms (PDR) party.

Reports reveal that PDR party has changed to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) that is associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

Through his letter, The Jubilee Secretary General stated that since the coalition, all the PDR officials whom they had previously engaged in discussions had changed.

He also accused UDA party officials’ use of hustler as their identity which he claimed that negates their motto, Tuko pamoja.

“We have found ourselves as strange bedfellows especially with the UDA use of their identity as ‘hustlers’ which has negative dictionary meaning and connotation. This is also at complete variance of our motto Tuko pamoja,” Tuju stated.

Tuju revealed that they had entered into a formal coalition agreement with PDR party way back in 2018.

“We lodged a proposed Coalition Agreement with PDR in 2018 based on those specific objectives as captured in Article 3 of the Agreement,” he said.

The ruling party boss while acknowledging the fact that their working relationship has worked in some counties that they targeted, he noted that the members of PDR party did not meet the minimum requirements of their agreement.

“Whereas a working relationship has subsisted in the few counties that the parties intended, the members did not move or have not met these requirements as is expected by both Statute and the Regulations,” part of the statement reads.
