A section of Mount Kenya region leaders have dismissed reports of endorsing ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid in the upcoming 2022 General Elections.
This is after President Uhuru Kenyatta loyalist in Mt Kenya region gave the strongest hit that they back on the former Prime Minister for the presidency.
But speaking during a meeting of Central Kenya leaders held in Laikipia County, led by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru said the engagement with other leaders were only consultative and that they had settled on none.
“There has been speculations that we are leaning towards Raila Odinga, that is not true. In fact, what we are doing is consultation. So whoever thinks will articulate our issues is the one we will back,”
The Governor said the Mountain region is open for talks with like-minded leaders and nothing was already determined. She further insisted the need for putting together people to advance unity and welfare of the residents.
Other leaders present were Laikipia Governor Nderitu Murithii, Kiambu Governor James Nyoro, Muranga woman representative Sabina Chege and Ndaragua Mp Jeremiah Kioni.
On Friday after the the Court of Appeal dismissed the BBI case spearheaded by The President and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Waiguru said the Judgement was a wake up call for a new political way forward.
“Kenya will go on. BBI intended well but we must respect the constitutional authority of the courts and find other legitimate means to achieve kenya’s unity and prosperity.” she said
