The next president of Kenya after ODM leader Raila Odinga will most likely not be Deputy President William Ruto, political analyst Herman Manyora has predicted.
He is among those of the belief that the powers that be have settled on the former premier as the next president, and Ruto will have to deal with a defeat in next year’s polls.
He now suggests that the earliest Ruto can be President is 2032, as the people who call the shots appear to already have someone in mind with regards to Raila’s 2027 succession.
For him, this will be Baringo Senator and KANU leader Gideon Moi, who has announced plans to take his first shot at the top seat in next year’s general elections.
For the University of Nairobi don, even Moi’s 2022 candidacy could be part of the bigger plan to make him president in the coming days,
with the schemers hiding behind it.
“In 2022, he might not get it because those schemers don’t want it to be a dynasty contest but they will try to make him President in 2027,” he told The Star.
He also admits that the young Moi cannot and will not win in 2022, an opinion also held by former Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament Musa Sirma, an ex ally of Gideon.
“In Rift Valley, I can’t tell you there will be no contest between Ruto and Moi…it is a no contest and anybody who wants to try should not even attempt it,” Sirma, who recently dumped Moi for Deputy President William Ruto, told the paper.
Manyora is among those who believe that President Uhuru Kenyatta will decide what will be happening in the presidential race.
This is with consideration that the President has since made it clear that he is not in support of Ruto succeeding him. The DP has responded by attacking him (Uhuru).
