Raila and Ruto unveil new line up as defections increase

Ahead of the 2022 polls, political realignments are taking shape with Deputy President William Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga assembling their troops for the ultimate battle to succeed  President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Among those who have joined the DP Ruto’s bandwagon are Governors John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot) and Josphat Nanok (Turkana), as well as Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.

The politicians have severed ties with the parties that sponsored them to their current positions, warming up to DP Ruto’s charms.

DP Ruto also welcomed Raila Odinga’s former campaign manager Eliud Owalo to his fold in what is turning out to be the alliance to beat in 2022.

Raila Odinga has also cast his nets wider, keen on cashing on the reported fallout in Jubilee and embracing the Mount Kenya.

The second in command appears to be the biggest beneficiary with Johnstone Muthama, Boni Khalwale, Hassan Omar, Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki, Jonathan Mueke, Musa Sirma, Ferdinard Waititu, and Mr. Owalo all flocking to the Ruto camp.

Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru is among vocal Jubilee lawmakers who have decamped from Dr. Ruto’s Tangatanga camp in support of the handshake brothers.

Odinga is also warming up to Joshua Kuttuny and Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich, all of whom have visited him in the recent past amid reports of a political pact in the offing.

Mount Kenya region that was initially hostile to Odinga has also changed tune, responding to calls by its leaders to warm up to a Raila presidency.
