Details have emerged that National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi’s installation as Mount Kenya spokesman might have had the blessings of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This is after the Head of State’s cousin, Kung’u Muigai revealed that Muturi would be Uhuru’s mouthpiece in the Mount Kenya region.
In his statement, Muigai who is also the patron of the Kikuyu Council of Elders said that the president will be communicating to the Mount Kenya residents via Muturi.
“After the process is complete, Muturi will be the Mt Kenya spokesman with the President speaking on behalf of the entire nation. But when the President visits the region, Muturi bows to the crown,” Muigai said.
Kung’u also revealed that the National Assembly speaker will be taken to another shrine in Mt Kenya forest where elders will officially confirm him as the Mt Kenya kingpin.
According to Kung’u, the president was aware of the whole Muturi’s coronation exercise.
However, his coronation has been rejected by a section of Mount Kenya leaders claiming that the speaker had defiled the shrine by allowing the police to visit the place.
This is after a section of Kikuyu elders had conducted a cleansing ceremony of Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga shrine annulling the exercise that had been conducted previously to install Muturi.
Kikuyu Council of Elders through their secretary general Peter Munga dismissed Muturi’s new role claiming that they only recognise Uhuru as the Mount Kenya region.
“We have said that we need to be one united people. Above all, we need to unite so that we lead by example under President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Munga said.
