President Uhuru meets Msambweni ODM aspirant days to by-election

As Msambweni constituency by-election draws closer, President Uhuru Kenyatta has held a meeting with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party candidate Idd Boga.

Msambweni parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the area Member of Parliament Suleiman Dori early this year.

Details have emerged that the head of state has today Thursday, December 10, 2020 played a host to ODM candidate for Msambweni parliamentary seat Idd Boga at State House in Mombasa.

This was confirmed through a tweet from the ODM party stating that the president held a meeting with ODM aspirant for Msambweni by-election Iddi Boga at state house in Mombasa.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta today hosted our candidate Omar Idd Boga at State House Mombasa. He was accompanied by our DPL @HassanAliJoho” the statement reads.

The meeting was also attended by ODM party Deputy Leader Ali Hassan Joho.

Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga Tanga brigade are said to be rallying their support behind the Independent candidate Abdallah Bade.

This comes as ruling Jubilee party through its Secretary General Raphael Tuju had announced that it will not field its candidate for the Msambweni race due to the handshake spirit between President Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“With unprecedented cooperation between Jubilee and ODM in Parliament in the recent past on matters of national importance and given that this was an ODM seat, the decision has been made that the jubilee party will not field a candidate in the interest of a bigger picture,” Tuju said.

Msambweni by-election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday December 15, 2020 next week.
