President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are expected in Vihiga today to lead the nation in sending off departed football icon Joe Kadenge. Whereas Raila Odinga flew to his Opoda home on Wednesday evening to make his journey to Vihiga easier, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to touch down in Kisumu then take a KAF Chopper to Vihiga.
Joe Kadenge’s body had already been flown to Western Kenya from Nairobi and a second requiem mass held at Kakamega’s Bukhungu stadium. Hundreds of mourners are expected at Joe Kadenge’s Hamisi home. Among those expected at the burial are top politicians, football legends and well as friends and relatives. Joe Kadenge died aged 84 at Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with ailments.
On Wednesday, the family held a requiem mass in Nairobi at the Friends Church along Ngong road. The ceremony was attended by Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi, Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris among other leaders.
