Following her being laid to rest yesterday Tuesday 10, 2021 at her parents home in Kianjege village of Kirinyaga County details have emerged of the slain Kiambu Tycoon’s wife Philomena Njeri’s kin request for the mother on the burial date.
The two Njeri and her husband Jonathan were found dead in their Kirigiti home in Kiambu County on Tuesday August 3, 2021 in what has since turned out to be a murder-suicide situation.
Speaking yesterday during the burial on behalf of the family, Njeri’s godmother who noted that the mother was overwhelmed with emotions after losing her only daughter.
The kin further requested Njeri’s friends to stand with the mother Margaret Wanjiru until she comes to terms with the untimely loss of her only daughter.
Another family friend also stated that Njeri was like a daughter to her, adding that the deceased supported her during the funeral of her late daughter only identified as Mumbi.
“There is one thing I would like to say when I heard that Njeri is gone, I asked God, do those people who die see one another? If they do, I know, and I believe Njeri and my daughter Mumbi are together and they are happy,” stated the family friend.
“Njeri has been my friend and my daughter and a good sister to my daughter Mumbi, who passed on seven months ago. When Mumbi passed on, Njeri really supported me together with her friends. I was left with two kids, Njeri is the one who always called to inquire on their whereabouts.”
Emotions would run high during her funeral as her classmates and friends performed one of her favorite vernacular songs, laced with her such is life interjections during hard or good times.
“For those of us who knew Njeri, if things were hard or easy, she would say, ‘si ni life!’ (Such is life). If Njeri was here, she would have told you, ‘Si ni life?” a friend who read her eulogy recalled.
A report from the government pathologist Johansen Oduor refuted the claims that she was pregnant at her death. The deceased died from multiple gunshot wounds while her husband Jonathan from one.
