Osoro released on Ksh.100,000 bond

South Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro was on Monday March 8, 2021 released on a Ksh. 100,000 bond after he was charged with malicious damage to property.

The court was told that Osoro, on March 4, 2021 at Kiamokama location, jointly with others, damaged the property of Peter Karanja Njuguna contrary to Section 339(1) of the Penal Code.

The South Mugirango legislator was accused of damaging the windscreen, doors and windows of a Toyota Sienta vehicle that is valued at Ksh.200,000.

The legislator, appearing before Kisii Chief Magistrate Nathan Shiundu, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

His lawyers pleaded to the court to release him on a free bond saying he is a public official hence he is not a flight risk.

However, the prosecution objected to a free bond.

The magistrate then released the accused on a bond of Ksh.100, 000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.

The case was set for mention on March 22, 2021.
