As 2022 politics takes shape, several political leaders have pledged their allegiance to different political leaders who they believe will succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fast approaching 2022 general polls.
However, opinions have it that Deputy President William Ruto who has declared his interest to go for the country’s topmost seat might lose the race to Statehouse to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Amollo Odinga who has vied for the seat in the past year’s but failed.
Several leaders the likes of Central organization for trade union (COTU) boss, Francis Atwoli, and Jubilee party chairman, David Murathe have also declared on numerous occasions that the second in command would fail terribly in 2022 polls because he is not serious now.
The two leaders reportedly noted that the DP will never be president of Kenya, and if he has to he must wait until 2032 to be considered as a serious candidate, and below are some of the reasons why DP Ruto will lose the presidency to the former Prime Minister who has been witnessed working closely with the Head of state after the famous handshake partnership.
First and foremost, even though the Second in Command is one of the smart presidential aspirants, the political strategy will cost him the presidency, and soon people will not see the same crowd sitting to listen to him as the country’s top search needs more mature and complex plans not running every corner like other electoral posts aspirants.
DP Ruto has not natured and maintained any stronghold, and as it stands, the Rift Valley region which is his potential strong back up will finally split, a section will follow the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, so DP Ruto needs to step up if he surely wants to win the race to Statehouse.
Second, the ODM Chief Raila Odinga contesting for the top seat in the next election is bad news to DP Ruto as Raila is a political tsunami whose political game is on another level and can turn things unexpectedly.
“I fear this man, his political game is unexplainable – he can completely turn things unexpected way,” Political Analyst Herman Manyora once said.
Ruto will face a challenge that will go down to history with the emergence of Raila Odinga who has survived many political phases he knows what it requires to win elections.
Lastly the second in command’s inner circle are not serious, and one cannot win the presidency with lesser politicians. The likes of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachangua, Senator Irungu Kang’ata, Isaac Mwaura, and the rest cannot deliver numbers to DP Ruto.
Again DP Ruto’s popularity is deceiving him, the crowd he gathers in his rallies cannot justify his ability to win the next polls as earlier explained by Herman Manyora that before 2022, there shall emerge narratives that will reset Ruto’s popularity as the crowd will follow what their local leaders are saying.
