OPINION: List Of 5 Counties DP Ruto Should Bank On To Win 2022 Race To Statehouse

As the 2022 general polls are fast approaching quite several political leaders are showing interest in various elective posts with the Deputy President William Ruto showing interest in succeeding his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.

For the Second in Command to realize his 2022 ambition, he must tighten his belts and onboard counties with a high number of registered voters as he must get fifty percent plus one vote to be declared the winner.

 

Kenya is one of the democratic countries in the world that elect leaders through the voting process and replace the leaders after some time.

Every candidate is reaching out for vote-rich areas to woo electorates as numbers count for one to win an electoral post.

Below are some of the counties that the DP should bank on to win his presidential bid.

Nairobi

Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and has a high vote rich than any county in Kenya. Having 17 constituencies it has approximately 2.2 million voters.

With those votes, the county will boost any presidential candidate to win elections.

Kiambu

Kiambu is also another vote rich county. It has over 1.6 million voters. During the past election, the county voted for Uhuru and if woos them, he will get a major in his presidential bid.

Nakuru

The county has been serving as rift valley regional headquarters. The region is perceived to be Ruto’s stronghold.

The county was elevated to city status this year and has over 800,000 potential voters.

Kakamega

The county is located in western Kenya and the deputy president has been making inroads into the region through his point man Khalwale.

The county has over 743,000 voters and this will add to the basket of Mr. Ruto’s presidential votes.

Meru

The county is located in mount Kenya East and also Ruto has been making inroads to this region through his point men.
