ODM Withdraws from by-election Race

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Nakuru County Chairman Peter Ole Osono on Saturday, February 27 announced the withdrawal of the party from Hell’s Gate and London ward by-elections.

Nakuru County ODM Chairman Peter Ole Osono has announced that ODM party has withdrawn from the Hell’s Gate and London ward by-elections race in favour of Jubilee.

Osono made the announcement at a press conference which was attended by both ODM and Jubilee MPs including; Babu Owino (Embakasi), Maina Kamanda (Nominated), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East) and Kanini Kega (Kieni).

Nakuru County ODM Chairman stated that the decision was arrived at as a result of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The legislators thereafter held a joined campaigning for Jubilee party’s candidates Francis Njoroge (London Ward) and Virginia Wamaitha (Hells Gate).

The Jubilee party candidates will now square it out with Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) party candidate Anthony Wachira Nzuki for the London Ward city and Jonathan Warothe for the Hells Gate seat.

This comes after Jubilee Party pulled out of the Msambweni by-election and backed ODM’s Omar Boga considering that the constituency was Odinga’s stronghold.

However, Boga lost to Deputy President William Ruto’s independent candidate Feisal Bader.

Jubilee also withdrew from the Kibra by-election and supported ODM’s Imran Okoth who trounced DP Ruto’s candidate, McDonald Mariga.
