ODM leader Raila Odinga finally Bows to Pressure, Agrees to Share NASA Billions

In a bid to to put an end to their stalemate, Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has finally bowed to pressure and agreed to share political parties funds by his fellow NASA coalition principals.

The former prime minister wrote to the four NASA principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Chama Cha Mashinani leader Isaac Kiprono Ruto agreeing to share the polical parties funds attributed to the Members of parliaments.

Reports privy to the letter indicate that the official opposition leader strictly agreed to release the funds the coalition obtained through the parliamentary election for the financial years 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20.

This is after the ruling Jubilee party received Ksh 353,856,428 while ODM received Ksh 165,252,076 disbursed by the National Treasury from the Political Parties pool fund to cater for the second, third, and fourth quarters.

The ODM party leader further noted that the decision to share the funds will further tone down the unhealthy exchanges between the other NASA principals against ODM.

“The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is appreciative of the constructive consultations that have taken place among the leaders of our respective parties.”

“Consequently thereto, our party has deliberated internally and resolved that, without prejudice, we share with our coalition partners ODM’s share of the political parties funds attributed to parliamentary (and excluding presidential, gubernatorial, and county assemblies) votes for the financial years 2017/18,2018/19 and 2019/20,” Raila stated.

This is after serious lobbying and meetings between, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the former premier, who blamed it on some people within the ODM misleading Raila.

Kalonzo claimed that the Orange party had extremists who are misleading the AU special envoy to take a hard stance on the matter.

This comes after the Orange Democratic Movement secretary general Edwin Sifuna took a hard stance on the matter.

During an interview on Jalang’o TV, Sifuna threw jibes on Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka whom he claims does not answer his calls.

The ODM Secretary-General went on to challenge the three parties to send him their paybill numbers for him to remit their share which is less than Ksh3,000.

“When the repeat presidential election was held Raila got 18,000 votes so we only get Ksh11,000. Wiper, Ford Kenya, and ANC should send me their till number so that I send them this money. I will send Kalonzo Ksh2,500 and Wetangula Ksh2,500,” he stated.
