Norman Magaya now finds himself firmly thrust at the center of Ezekiel Mutua’s chaotic KFCB ouster, and at the same time, grappling with Wiper’s complicated politics.
Up until a month ago, former close Raila ally Norman Magaya led quite a solid life, although ravaged by sickness at some point. He was the CEO of NASA, and strategist for the opposition outfit.
However, as it became increasingly clear that NASA was on its deathbed, Magaya decamped to Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement party as the party’s head of Political Affairs.
Since then, a string of dramatic events have unfolded in quick succession for the young lawyer. In a week, he has seen his Okoa Kenya teammate Chris Wamalwa contradict him on live TV concerning the outfit’s plan regarding DP William Ruto, and has also found himself in danger of being charged in connection to alleged irregularities emerging from last Friday’s dramatic firing of Ezekiel Mutua as head of the Kenya Film Classification Board.
During a live TV show on Citizen’s Daybreak, Magaya insinuated that OKA’s number one priority was to beat UDA at the polls, and that the outfit had no intention of ever working with Ruto. Ford Kenya’s Dr. Chris Wamalwa, on the other hand, shot back, dismissing Magaya’s claims, and keeping the door open for a Ruto alliance by saying that politics is static, and OKA couldn’t rule out working with anybody.
Concerning the dramatic dismissal of the now former Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, following his ouster, reports further indicated that the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC) had waded into the matter when it got wind of an alleged scheme to renew Dr. Mutua’s contract for a third term hence, asked the CS to take disciplinary action against the KFCB Board.
Worth noting is that Norman Magaya serves on the aforementioned board, and thus, now finds himself at risk of facing either disciplinary, punitive or even legal action.
