Ngunjiri Wambugu’s response after TangaTanga MP’s demand list to DP Ruto surfaced

Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has once again revisited Deputy President William Ruto’s relationship with the Mt. Kenya people and the alleged list of demands tabled in exchange for their support.

Responding to reports of alleged laid down demands, Wambugu refuted the claims that Mt Kenya MPs had created a list for the DP for backing.

He expressed his utter shock at the new development since the MPs had thrown themselves at the DP and were already campaigning for him in the region.

“They have told us and everybody that as far as they are concerned, Ruto is the best candidate for 2022,” he said.

He equated it as a joke to the Mt Kenya region as negotiations can never be held with someone you already support.

Responding to media reports of Mt Kenya legislators negotiating with the DP in exchange for the region’s political support ahead of 2022, Wambugu noted the protocol was wrong, as they had already kickstarted the process.

“It is quite embarrassing for them to be out here telling us that they now want to negotiate. Who are they negotiating on behalf of?” Wambugu asked.

“If Ruto for example refuses to listen to their demands, what are they going to do to him? Are they going to leave him?”

He also continued that the allies could have realized the DP was unpopular in the region and therefore wanted a safe way out.

“They did not need to negotiate as they believed that he already has the region’s support.”

“If the region is firmly behind Ruto, what are they negotiating for? You only negotiate for something that you do not have,” he said.
