New twist in the murder of Kiriri University student Christine Ambani, as the parents of the suspected lover turned killer Innocent Kalio Makokha now blame the police for their son’s freedom.
Speaking to the Standard, Innocent’s parent stated that they thought their son was still in jail for an earlier murder of three other people. The family maintained that they only learnt of his freedom through TV reports.
According to his father, Makokha is the chief suspect in the death of his elder brother, his sister-in-law and their one year old son who all died after their house was burned down.
A police investigation into the untimely death of the brother and his family indicated that someone had poured petrol around their house before eventually setting it on fire.
His father Apollo Kalio noted that Makokha is the key witness in the case involving his brothers family, the father also vowed that he killed the young family after a dispute with the mother and the brother.
Apollo Kalio further stated that their son threatened to harm the mother after his mother took long to give him the some of money he had demanded for. When asked to be patient Makokha is reported to have turned violent on her.
The father continued that his son was always in trouble even in his teen days, adding that his indiscipline led to his transfer to different schools on numerous occasions. Apollo demanded to to know from the police why his son was released from prison without his knowledge.
Reports showed that the DPP had directed that a public inquest into the matter be conducted, and even be inquest was conducted and his son and the family buried, Makokha was released later wrecking havoc to the grieving family.
He would later attack the mourners, thereby by disrupting the burial planning meetings that were ongoing and destroyed his family’s property in return.
Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations nabbed the Mount Kenya University student over the murder of his girlfriend Christine Ambani on Tuesday, July 27 2021.
According the DCI, the victim left her home with plans to meet her boyfriend for a date in Githurai, where he booked her in a room in and later stabbed her bleeding to death.
The suspect would later impersonate the dead girlfriend through the family WhatsApp group asking the family for Ksh 87, 000, claiming that she wanted to refund her boyfriend the money she had used to settle in College.
