A post mortem conducted on the body of the Somali- American businessman Mohamud Bashir has finally revealed the cause of his death barely a week after his mysterious disappearance.
The autopsy carried earlier today at the Umash funeral home in Nairobi indicated that the Somali businessman was strangled to death.
Further details indicate that Bashir was tortured before he was later killed as evidenced by injury marks on the body, especially the head area suspected to be from a blunt object.
Additional information from the pathologist indicate the body the American citizen who went missing on Thursday 13, 2021, had burn wounds too.
Bashir’s body was found at Kerugoya Level 5 Hospital mortuary after it was retrieved from River Nyamindi three days later last Sunday, May 16, where it had been dumped by unidentified people.
A statement from the family through their lawyer indicated that they will know no peace until they got to the bottom of the matter, with a further call for privacy as they come to terms with the news of their departed kin.
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bashir Mohamed Mohamud informs you that the body of Bashir was found earlier today at Kerugoya Level 5 Hospital.
“As the family processes this tragic news and plan for his burial, they request that they be accorded privacy,” a statement from the family lawyer Charles Madowo read in part.
Reports from the police indicated why they took time to identify the body, due to its disfigured face, with finger prints the only way out to unveiling his identity.
“We were informed that there was a body at River Nyamindi’s bed, that is Sunday last week (16/05/2021), we visited the scene where we collected the body and booked it at the Kerugoya morgue,” Kirinyaga county criminal investigating officer (CCIO) Kiplagat Korir told KTN.
“Since it was naked and did not have any documents for identification, we took the fingerprints for identification. The details came late last night (Saturday 22/05/2021), showing that it was Bashir’s,” he added.
