Although whatever comes out of former Jubilee nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura’s mouth is likely to be taken with a pinch of salt by supporters of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, his statement concerning one of the leading governors in Kieleweke, and who has been on the forefront in pushing for a Raila presidency is expected to cause concern. Mwaura argues that what Raila should ask of the governor is that he puts more effort in clearing his name since he was the most zealous of all in soiling Raila’s name within the Mount Kenya region, back before the Handshake.
The former Ruiru parliamentary seat aspirant was speaking on KTN’s NewsLine which was hosted by Fred Indimuli. Alongside Mr. Mwaura was Igembe North member of parliament, Maoka Maore.
Mwaura said that while the demonisation of Raila Odinga in the Mount Kenya region was not only a collective effort, but also cross generational, and had been conducted by successive generations of the GEMA community, Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi was the most vocal and vicious of them all.
Dismissing his co-panelist, Maoka Maore’s assertion that Raila stood a good chance of clinching a bulk of the Mount Kenya votes, Mwaura said that a lot of work and also time needed to be pumped into efforts of sanitizing Raila among Central Kenya voters, if this ever stood a chance of being realised.
Earlier this month, Kiraitu hosted the former Prime Minister in Meru, where he admitted to playing a pivotal role in poisoning the minds of the GEMA communities in the past.
“The Raila I know is a strategist. The Raila I know is a man of ideas. He knows more history than historians although he is an engineer. The Raila I know is a man of energy, focus and determination,” Kiraitu said
Kiraitu and Lapsset board chairman Titus Ibui led a powerful group of Meru leaders, the business community and professionals to declare support for the opposition chief in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta next year.
“Those demons which we planted, the crocodiles which we put in the rivers, we are going to remove them so that you take people to Canaan,” Kiraitu said.
