Muthama speaks for the first time following a landslide victory by his ex-wife, Kavindu in Machakos by-election

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has spoken for the first time following the landslide victory by his ex-wife Agnes Kavindu in the just concluded Machakos Senatorial by-election.

In his statement, the former Machakos Senator congratulated his ex-wife for winning the Machakos Senatorial seat and promised to support her.

“You have our support as you serve the people of Machakos. To our Muthama Ngengele pongezi for a good show! Let’s pull together and focus on the future,” part of Muthama’s statement reads.

Mr. Muthama also dismissed rumours going around that he is being pressurized by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party officials over the poor performance in Machakos by-election.

“Hustler fraternity please consider this as fake and fictitious news!” Muthama stated.

In her victory speech, Kavindu urged Machakos residents to respect her former husband, clarifying that she was not in competition with him.

Kavindu won the Machakos Senatorial by-election with a total of 104,080 votes against her closest rival and UDA party candidate, Urbanus Ngele who got 19,705 votes.

Other candidates who participated in the race include; Mutua Katuku of Maendeleo Chap Chap (1,476), Francis Munyambu (1,461), Simeon Kitheka (1,448), Lily Mwanzia (927), John Musingi (687), Nthenge Otto (159), Jonathan Maweu (155), Sebastian Nthama (131), and Stanley Muindi (95).
