Mulama; Uhuru is trying what we have tried and failed many times before; making Raila President

Amani National Congress party Nairobi Chapter Chairman Brian Mulama has now come out to assert that there’s absolutely nothing new or special with what president Uhuru Kenyatta is trying to do in his recent overtures which appear to indicate that he will be endorsing the Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga for the country’s highest seat.

Brian Mulama was speaking while making an appearance on Radio Jambo’s weekly political show Mazungumzo Wazi Wazi which was hosted by the station’s presenter, Bramwell Mwololo. Alongside Mulama in the studio were former ANC party member number turned ODM member Ruth Ambogo self-proclaimed Wala Nyasi leader and Deputy President William Ruto supporter Gerald Bitok, and nominated senator Isaac Mwaura.

While drumming up support for his party leader, Mulama dismissed the notion that the former Prime Minister was already halfway to the presidency because of the tacit support from the president and clear support through government machinery. Mulama said that Uhuru was only now beginning to do what they in Musalia’s camp had already begun as early back as 2007.

Back in 2007, Mulama recalled that when Raila Odinga was running for the presidency on the then newly formed Orange Democratic Movement party against the then incumbent Mwai Kibaki, his running mate was Musalia Mudavadi. Mulama also reminded his listeners that in 2017, once again Musalia Mudavadi had shelved his own ambitions and supported Raila Odinga’s presidential bid. He then empasised on the point that during both these occasions, Raila Odinga had been unable to clinch the presidency despite the support offered to him.

In a dark prophesy for the Raila Odinga bid, Mulama foretold that the forthcoming elections slated for next year weren’t going to be any different. He declared that Kenyans have never been the type to blindly follow leaders who are presented to them and endorsed for leadership.

Quoting the 2002 unsuccessful presidential bid by current president Uhuru Kenyatta that was by then being supported by former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi who was heading into retirement, Mulama predicted that Raila’s fortunes would suffer a similar fate.
He, on the other hand, held that Mudavadi stands a good chance of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
