Leaders from the Mt Kenya region have started lobbying for former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri to be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 General Elections.
Politicians drawn from the National Assembly, Senate and influential grassroots leaders have been meeting to strategise on how to rally the vote-rich behind Kiujuri.
According to a report by the The Star, the meetings have been taking place in Nairobi, Nyeri and Kiunjuri’s home town.
This came with political realignments gathering steam with just 16 months to the General Elections.
In other news, President Uhuru Kenyatta held a crisis meeting at State House on Monday, April 12, with stakeholders to address a looming depletion of the AstraZeneca Vaccine.
Sources from the health ministry disclosed the available stock of the jab will end in 10-14 days.
With India having halted the export of the vaccine, the Monday meeting is said to have approved a delayed second jab by four weeks.
