A middle-aged woman is currently fighting for her life, nursing injuries in Kitale County Referral Hospital in Trans Nzoia County after she was shot in an alleged case of mistaken identity with wanted killer cop Caroline Kangogo.
The woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was shot in the abdomen by Ken Muyundo who suspected that she is the wanted killer cop.
Muyundo who is a licenced firearm holder said he suspected that Chemutai was wanted police officer Caroline Kangogo.
Quoting a police report K24 Digital reported that the woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was arrested on the night of Thursday, July 8 after officers drawn from Kiminini Police Station laid a trap believing that she was the wanted killer cop.
The publication further reported that Phanice who bears the same middle name Chemutai with the killer cop had been reportedly constantly calling Muyundo who is a licenced firearm holder asking for a meet up at Kiminini market.
As a precautionary measure, Muyundo is reported to have fired a single shot to scare her.
“Ref my OB 26/8/7/2021 at 2130hrs. It was reported by one Ken Muyundo of telephone number 072xxxxx88 and a licensed firearm holder that there has been a lady by the name Chemutai who has been persistently calling to meet him within Kiminini market.
“The pistol, a Ceska mini belonging to the said Ken Muyundo with one magazine loaded with 10 rounds of 9 by 18mm and one spent cartridge have been retrieved and held as exhibit.” The police report read in part.
The police interrogated Phanice and established she allegedly met Muyundo and exchanged telephone numbers which prompted her to call him severally.
This comes as the hunt for Caroline Kangogo who has been described as armed and dangerous continues.
Kangogo who is wanted for the murder of police officer John Ongweno and Peter Ndwiga Njiru.
