Millions splashed as DP Ruto’s name surface on Obado impeachment

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has today 3rd Sept 2020 sought protection for Migori MCAs who are involved in the impeachment of their governor Okoth Obado amid blackmail and intimidation allegations.

In a statement today, party chairman John Mbadi said, they are aware and know individuals who are privy to all these, and urges the government to move with speed to protect the law-makers.

“We urge the government to ensure the security of Migori MCs and protect them from any form of intimidation and blackmail.”

The Gwassi MP further divulged that the party will publish all the names of all the individuals currently involved in raising money and also diverting public funds to bribe MCAs and finance violence in the county

“Those CECS, directors, suppliers, contractors, and county assembly officials are currently holed up in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Migori. As soon as we forward those names, we will expect the police to act with speed to arrest the individuals,” said Mbadi

The governor’s ouster process kick-started immediately a Nairobi court released him on bail barring him from County offices while paving ways for a take-over by his little known deputy Nelson Mahanga.

Deputy President William Ruto and his allies had earlier vowed to fight tooth and nail for Governor Obado following the developments on his impeachment .

At least 27 MCAs had signed up for a motion to impeach Mr. Obado by Wednesday, eight more than the threshold number for it’s tabling in the assembly.

This comes just days after the embattled governor had blogged from the cells accusing Senator Ochilo Ayacko and other county leaders of planning for his ouster
