Mike Sonko rushed to DCI headquarters after spending the night in police custody

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is once again in trouble after he was picked from the police cells where he spent the night for questioning at the DCI offices.

The former County head was picked from Muthaiga police station where he was locked yesterday and taken straight to the DCI headquarters, along Kiambu road. He is to be arraigned later in the day.

Reports privy to his questioning revealed that the former County chief is expected to face seven counts of robbery with violence and five counts of assault, a case is in point involves a kindergarten in Buru Buru in 2019.

He is to be prosecuted for among others, following the aftermath and the events that took place at the school after his visit together with his associates.

Sonko was also questioned over his utterances at a rally in Dagoretti where he claimed they organized and executed electoral chaos with interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

This comes shortly after he had filed a court application under a certificate of urgency but Justice James Makau declined to issue the orders pending the hearing of the matter which was scheduled for February 28.

The former governor wanted the summons by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police John Kariuki to appear at the Kiambu headquarters to record a statement be set aside.

He was expected to give the details of his utterances when they allegedly bought and torched cars along Ngong road, and planted them on ODM supporters.

He has also been on the record for hurling insults at President Uhuru Kenyatta whom he blames his ouster from the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on.
