Deputy President William Ruto held a meeting days after announcing the suspension of his political gatherings citing the surge in the cases of Covid-19 infections in the country.
Among activities that DP Ruto had cancelled include a series of political gatherings that he was set to hold in the Eastern region. He also revealed that he will greatly scale down his political engagements.
DP Ruto has today November 11, 2020 held a meeting with Former football star Mcdonald Mariga and politician Eliud Owalo at his Karen residence in Nairobi.
Even though the agenda of their meeting is not known, the political analyst has viewed their meeting as a move by the Deputy President William Ruto to reconcile his two allies who were arch rivals in the past by-election in Kibra Constituency following the death of former area Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.
Mariga and Owalo took each other head on during the 2019 Kibra by-election in which they lost to the brother to former area Member of Parliament the late Ken Okoth and the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) Imran Okoth.
Imran who contested through an ODM ticket garnered 24,636 votes followed by Jubilee candidate Mcdonald Mariga who came second with 11,230 votes while Eliud Owalo who contested through Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket managed 5,275 votes in an election that also saw Khamisi Butichi of Ford Kenya getting 260 votes.
Since then, the soccer star had kept a low profile until his Karen visit when he made his first public appearance.
