Legislators disrupt Parliament proceedings

National Assembly Members of Parliament on Thursday March 11,2021 disrupted the Parliament proceedings over National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF).

The lawmakers ignored the ring of the parliament bell but instead assembled at the members lounge and began chanting: “No CDF, no sittings, no CDF no supplementary budget”.

The Members of Parliament demanded money to be appropriated to their constituencies before they go for a one week break.

The afternoon sitting session that was meant for debating on the Division of the Revenue Bill ended prematurely as the legislators boycotted the debate over Bill.

The efforts to bring back the Members of Parliament in the house failed even after the party whips had pleaded with them.

The Speaker of the National Assembly was forced to adjourn sitting after Tigania West Member of Parliament Kanyuithia Murunga notified him that there was no quorum in the house.

Reports have revealed that each constituency has received only Ksh. 16 million out of the Ksh. 100 million that they are supposed to receive every financial year so far.
