Kositany attacks Didmas Barasa! Cracks in tanga tanga over Kabuchai loss, or just a misunderstanding?

In a development that is still too surprising to make any substantial conclusion on, the Soi member of parliament, who is also considered Ruto’s unofficial spokesman, threw a barb at Didmas Barasa, who is considered one of his closest allies and also an important point man for the deputy president in Western region.

The former Jubilee party deputy secretary general was speaking on the issue of electoral violence, when he began naming and admonishing those he considered to have been the worst offenders in the recent by-elections in Western. He named Cleophas Malala who he criticised for roaming around Matungu with goons, but then, the next person he named was Didmas Barasa for electoral offenses.

“…like what we saw in Matungu, with senator Cleophas Malala who was walking around with goons, and in Kabuchai too, where we saw the Kimilili MP…”

Kositany was speaking on Citizen TV’s morning show Daybreak yesterday, hosted by Sam Gituku. Joining the show virtually, as did Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang’, he was alongside Adan Keynan and Dan Maanzo.

Previous unconfirmed reports from the tanga tanga camp have indicated that each time the faction has faced a loss in a perceived stronghold, pressure has been exerted on the leaders of the area in question, with them being accused of enjoying support and financing from the DP, yet failing to deliver.

It is said that when the BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill passed easily in the Nakuru County Assembly, without even so much as a scare from the opposers, Susan Kihika who had been mandated with the task of conjuring up a surprise in the poll because of her past experience with the county assembly as the speaker of the assembly came under fire, and has only recently gotten some reprieve after managing to sneak in a win in the London Ward by-election in Nakuru.

With such intrigues having previously taken place in the tanga tanga camp, it wouldn’t be unthought-of to see some sort of backlash against the Kimilili MP from the DP’s confidants.

However, it would be difficult for the DP’s confidants to single out Didmas for attacks, when he was arrested alongside other close allies of the DP from Rift Valley like Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, and Belgut MP Nelson Koech.
