Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has dismissed reports that Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka travelled to Turkey on a diplomatic mission following the recent deportation of Turkish Harun Aydin from the country on Monday, August 2, 2021.
Speaking to the press, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua who is an ally of Wiper party leader revealed that Kalonzo travelled out of the country for private business and not on a diplomatic mission over the removal of Aydin as was earlier reported.
In his statement, Wambua dismissed rumors about his party leader being on a diplomatic mission on behalf of the Kenyan Government over the deportation of Turkish Harun Aydin from the country, terming it as a cheap propaganda.
“The speculation that he could be out there on a diplomatic mission on behalf of the Kenyan Government is cheap propaganda motivated by bad faith,” Wambua said.
Wambua maintained that the Turkish national at the centre of the controversial removal is not a state player in the Turkish government for Kalonzo to be sent to Turkey to resolve any stalemate.
“The Turkish national at the centre of a controversial deportation is not a state actor in the Turkish government, and that my party leader’s visit to Turkey has absolutely nothing to do with the particulars of and the parties in this controversy,” he remarked.
His statement came hours after the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, dispelled statements from Deputy President William Ruto that Kenya apologized to Turkey for removing Aydin from the country.
“As a responsible public servant, I cannot bring myself to apologise. I have a responsibility to safeguard the country,” the Interior CS stated.
