Kirubi’s family reveal details of his last moments before his ultimate death

The family of the late businessman Chris Kirubi has revealed his last moments before he eventually passed on.

Speaking during his requiem mass on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Faith Evangelistic Ministries church in Karen, the family revealed that Kirubi died of complications caused by brain cancer.

According to his family, Chris was put on oxygen after developing difficulty in breathing on Sunday evening. However, the complications persisted and he passed on the following day.

Sources close to the family stated that in the week leading up to Sunday, his medical team had broken the sad news to him that his chances of surviving were slim.

According to one of the staff from his medical team, Kirubi preferred being attended to at his home where he had built a state-of-the-art ICU.

Kirubi had in the past disclosed that the cancer had affected his eyes, lungs and kidneys. He passed on at the presence of his family members.

The requiem mass was attended by family and friends of the late businessman, including; Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Amina Mohammed, Rachel Ruto among other prominent persons.

ODM leader Raila Odinga said: “Chris was a visionary person who had a passion for excellence and wanted only the best for his country, Kenya.”

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka revealed that the tycoon convinced him to negotiate his Vice President position with retired President Mwai Kibaki.

“We are here to celebrate a great Kenyan, a statesman,” Kalonzo stated.

However, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto did not attend the ceremony and were represented by Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohammed and Rachel Ruto respectively.

“Chris was a dear friend of mine, who was really generous with his time…If he didn’t hear from you for a while he would look for you,” President Kenyatta’s speech read.

“We appreciate Chris for all the lives that he touched. We are grateful to him and we say ‘Rest in Peace, May the Lord Bless you,” Rachel eulogised.
