When former Kimilili MP Kimilili MP Suleiman Murunga took him to court in 2017 over contested election results, Didmus Barasa, the current Kimilili MP ran to city lawyer Alfred Ndambiri for help.
The lawyer took the matter of representing MP Barasa in court, an exercise which cost the legislator Ksh 1.8m, but he promised to pay once he gets in office.
However, three years later, the MP has not paid the legal fees and is involved in cat and mouse games with the courts. The legislator today is on the run after a Nairobi court ordered for his arrest after failing to not only show up for court proceedings but also to pay the 1.8m legal fees.
On Tuesday, Magistrate DM Kivuti of the Milimani gave an order to arrest MP Barasa, which was reserved upon OCS of Nairobi Central Police Station to execute. The MP was given up to November 24th (today) to pay the lawyer 1.8 million shillings or alternatively face six months in jail.
