Kang’ata fires early warning shot against UDA colleagues from Murang’a

As we get closer and closer to the 2022 general election, the United Democratic Alliance party which is probably the most popular party in Central Kenya at the moment continues to show early signs of an impending major internal war.

In a stunning statement that left many in shock, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata who usually has no kind words for ODM praised the party’s style of direct nomination, and added that there’s nothing wrong when Ruto does the same in UDA.

This comes hot on the heels of a perceived endorsement where deputy president, during an event in Murang’a, showed preference for Irungu Kang’ata as the party’s nominee for the gubernatorial race, and implied that he would be hoisting the party’s flag in the forthcoming polls.

Earlier on, after this incident, Kang’ata had jubilated at the show of confidence in him by the DP with a tweet which said as much and read,

Irungu Kang’ata
Thanks to HE Dr William Ruto for finding faith in my capabilities as a Muranga gubernatorial candidate under UDA. Pledge to serve the people with all dedication if I bring this seat home with UDA ticket, particularly on matters health and Minimum Guranteed Return for agriculture

This was the followed by the more combative tweet defending direct nominations, which read,

Irungu Kang’ata
Attended Freddy’s dad burial at Iyego Kangema.Explained ODM supporters are free to seek Raila’s support .Jubilee likewise is free to endorse its supporters.Tuju will definitely be happy to offer such support. Those of us that support UDA are free to seek HE Ruto encouragement

Though yet to confirm it officially, the race for the Murang’a county gubernatorial has previously been associated with not just Irungu Kang’ata, but also Kiharu member of parliament, and vocal tanga tanga leader, Ndindi Nyoro.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome is yet another high ranking tanga tanga member from the county who, it is thought, may also be nursing ambitions of county leadership.

With such issues having burdened Jubilee party in the run-up to the 2017 elections, so much so that a huge number of candidates preferred to vie as independents after missing out on the party tickets, it will be interesting to see how UDA traverses through this impending possible mess.
