Kabogo drops another bombshell a few hours after threatening to ditch DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has again dropped another bombshell a few hours after threatening to ditch Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition.

In a Twitter post on Friday night, Kabogo, who had earlier pledged full support for Ruto’s presidential bid, made a U-Turn saying he is not seeing a round one win for Ruto on the ballot in August.

According to the Tujibebe Party Leader, August polls will more likely go into a re-run between Ruto and Raila.

He reiterated his earlier remarks, saying the choice of a running mate will determine the person who will carry the day in August.

Despite not revealing the kind of a running mate who could win either Ruto or Raila the presidency, Kabogo’s tweet was a clear hint that whoever will pick the most influential candidate from the Mt Kenya region, will be the president after the August polls.

“I smell a rerun, it’s imminent. Like I said before the choice of a running mate will decide the 5th. Am not a witch neither am I a prophet but i see,” read Kabogo’s tweet.

Kabogo had earlier threatened to walk out of Kenya Kwanza Alliance just hours after the details of the power-sharing deal in the outfit exposed by Citizen Tv on Wednesday evening.

Addressing the public on Thursday in Kiambu, Kabogo said if Deputy President William Ruto’s power structure is not revised to include the people of the Mt. Kenya region, he will leave the Alliance.

“When I met the deputy president in Dubai, I told him I don’t want anything from his government. What I asked him is to ensure the interest of the Mt Kenya region is well captured in his government,” he said.

“We have seen the details of his agreement with other members of the coalition. If that is not rectified to capture the interest of the people living in Mt Kenya then we will have to leave.”

The former governor is the leader of the Tujibebe Party, which is a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Details of how Ruto will share power with his key partners in the Alliance emerged on Wednesday.

According to a report by Citizen TV, the presidential post and that of the deputy president have been reserved for William Ruto’s UDA party. Whereas the running mate post has gone to the UDA, it is reported to have been categorically reserved for the Mt Kenya region.

The deal has also seen Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi land a lucrative position of the Prime Cabinet Secretary if Ruto wins the August 9, general elections and forms government.

The agreement has also reserved the post of The National Assembly Speaker to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and his Ford Kenya party. Musalia and Mudavadi have also been promised a 30% share of Ruto’s government, that is appointments in all ministries and government parastatals.

The two Western Kenya leaders are in return, required to get Ruto 70% of the votes from the five counties of Western Kenya.

The new entrant into Kenya Kwanza Alliance, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, and his Pamoja African Alliance has been rewarded with the post of Senate speaker’s seat.

Kingi’s negotiations also saw a number of his supporters’ promised appointment to top management positions at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) by the KKA government.
