Joash Maangi, MP Osoro threaten to sue the government

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro have threatened to sue the state following their dramatic arrest during the funeral service of the late former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae in Kisii County.

This was revealed by the three Gusii leaders (Joash Maangi, Sylvanus Osoro and former Kisii Mayor Samwel Omwando) while speaking in South Mugirango during a public function.

The trio has vowed to make a joint complaint against the government before a court of law.

The three leaders, led by Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, blamed the security officers for being misused by the government to frustrate and intimidate the political allies of the DP Ruto.

South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro claimed that he was released from police custody at midnight and abandoned in a thicket.

This comes after Joash Maangi and Sylvanus Osoro who are close allies to Deputy President William Ruto were arrested on Monday February 15, 2021 alongside former Kisii Mayor Samwel Omwando for allegedly trying to cause chaos during the funeral service of the late Mzee Simeon Nyachae.

However, the three maintained that they will continue working closely with Deputy President William Ruto and that they will not be intimidated by the police or the government for their political position.
