Hours after the police cancelled the much anticipated Luo festival event, Celebrated journalist cum Kiss 100 radio presenter Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o has issued a statement.
Taking online on his Instagram account, the Bonga na Jalas show host, noted that it was a sad time for him and everyone that was involved in the planning, sponsorship and even those who had bought tickets ready to attend and support the event in one way or the other.
The award-winning emcee confirmed that those who had already purchased tickets to attend the mega event will be reimbursed their money, with the event companies involved in the process bearing the loss.
The former Churchill show comedian went on to say that a new date will be announced later when things are better and also thanked the police and other government agencies that were involved in the planning of the event to see it a success.
“I want to thank everyone who has always supported our event @luofestival, we want to thank God for keeping us alive to this moment, thank you to our sponsors and partners and mostly you the fans of Luo Festival! Thank you! We will announce new dates and soon we will share great moments again! I want to also thank the administrators and government who have walked with us through this journey to realise the success of this event, the presidency, the ministry of health, ministry of interior and National coordination and all the government officials who would have wanted this event to happen. Thank you!”

We immediately start the reimbursement of all payments made, all tickets paid for and every single loss we as @arenamedialtd will take. Go out there and get vaccinated!! In all this we smile and hope you keep safe!! God above everything!” said Heavy J Baba.
His sentiments come after he received a letter from the Nairobi Regional Commissioner requesting him to reschedule the event on a later dater after the current Covid-19 safety measures are relaxed.
“Nairobi Region Security and Intelligence Committee has received your request to hold a Luo Festival on 28th August 2021 at Carnivore Gardens from 10.00 – 21.30 hrs.
“After careful considerations of the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic and the containment measures in place, the Committee hereby requests you to postpone the event until such a time when the current measures are reviewed in favour of physical/in-person public gatherings and meetings,” the letter read.
