Irungu Kang’ata reveals who Kikuyus will vote for president in 2022 election

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has claimed that Kikuyus will vote for an outsider in the forthcoming 2022 presidential election.

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, the Tanga Tanga lawmaker said that the Mount Kenya Region would vote for Deputy President William Ruto in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In his statement that he shared on his Twitter page, Kang’ata revealed that their mission is to make sure that the DP becomes the President in 2022.

“Our ultimate goal is to have this man in state house. We will be the first generation of Kikuyus to make history and support a non-Kikuyu by way of non-violence and democratic means. In adherence to what our boss told us: “Yangu kumi, ya Ruto Kumi”. Kang’ata stated.

The legislator had written a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta alleging that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill was unpopular in Mount Kenya Region and had slim chances of sailing through if a referendum is held.

The Murang’a lawmaker shifted his support to Ruto after he was ousted from the position of the Senate majority whip.

This is after Ruto had expressed interest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming 2022 Presidential election.

The second in command has promised to allocate hustlers Ksh 100 million if he is elected the head of state.

“Just like we allocate Ksh 100 million to every constituency in every year for development projects, this time around, we will allocate KSh 100 million every year, government funds, to help people like mama mboga, those that use wheelbarrows and carts,” Ruto said.
