Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has reacted to the allegation doing around social media that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s security officers have been separated.
Reports by Star Newspaper indicated that the Inspector General of Police declined to answer the question on why the President and his Deputy’s security have been separated from their central command after being reached to clarify on the matter.
Mutyambai instead notified that he cannot discuss President Uhuru’s and the Second in Command’s security details in public forums, adding that even for the other Very Important Person (VIPs) should not be disclosed at any given point.
“We can’t discuss that. The security of the President, the DP, and other VIPs cannot be discussed in public please,” Hillary Mutyambai reportedly stated.
However, inside sources privy to the information revealed that the move to separate the security details has also affected the family of Third President Mwai Kibaki.
The source whose identity is kept anonymous for security reasons also alleged that the move is to ensure Covid-19 protocols are observed to avoid exposing the to dangers through Security guards sharing.
“Those changes took effect recently. The arrangement remains in force until further notice,” said the source.
