Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has revealed that Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi will nominate a running mate from the Mount Kenya region.
The Lugari lawmaker who is also a close ally of Mudavadi, insisted that the former Vice President was the rightful successor of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In his statement, Savula described his party leader as a humble man.
“I tell you that Musalia has used a unique strategy to bring together governors from Mount Kenya; we have Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga, Governor Francis Kimemia, Governor Anne Waiguru and Governor Lee Kinyanjui. We have held secret meetings with the governors and they are ready to persuade locals to join hand with Musalia,” Savula said.
The ANC deputy party leader urged the Luhya community to support Mudavadi’s resolution as he seeks unity in the region.
“He will soon make changes in the party as we have agreed. I would like to officially announce that Musalia’s deputy will leave Mlimani. After that we will seek support in other regions,” Savula stated.
On August 11, 2021, Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala said Mudavadi was good enough to lead Kenya.
Malala stressed that the former vice president has satisfactory policies and ambitious strategies to guide more than 48 million Kenyans, based on his experience from the previous administration.
Malala’s remarks came as coalition talks erupted in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) among its principals including; Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Gideon Moi (KANU).
The coalition has not yet named its real presidential candidate in the 2022 general election even as President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urging them to support Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
