Re-known media personality Zeynab Wandati has finally come out talking about her childhood, and life experiences that have shaped her into whom she is currently.

Speaking in a live interview with the NTV, the TV queen revealed that she was born prematurely at the currently Kakamega County Hospital, in the expert hands of former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale then a midwife.

Currently a journalist at NTV, Zeynab narrates how she ended up in a career, that was not her childhood dream after spending a day with her role model Jamila Mohamed at work.

“I have grown up all over the place. I was born at the Kakamega District Hospital, now Kakamega County Hospital. I was born a premature child and dad says we moved to Nairobi when I was three months old,” she says.

The thirty-two-year-old further divulged how she had to take up parental roles in childhood caring for his brother after the separation of her parents.

“My parents separated when we were young and my brother and I had to look after each other. My dad was a single father for most of his life,” she adds.

Growing up, the Alliance girls alumnus wanted to be a doctor but later changed her mind as she couldn’t put up with blood, and the longer hours doctor’s take in class.

“I also got to learn how long they stay in medical school. I don’t think I have that kind of patience,” she said amidst laughter.

Zeynab is rocking and conquering the media Industry, a journey she developed a liking for since she was age 15.

She began with an internship at the Royal Media Services, then moved to the Nation Media Group’s journalism training program, the Media Lab.

She then got employed with NTV as a business reporter before becoming the business editor, then to her current position as the science and technology editor.

In 2017, she was awarded the FAO’s A.H. Boerma Award, a feat only achieved by the Late Kenyan Photojournalist Mohamed “Mo” Amin.

“Becoming the second Kenyan to win the award was a moment of pride for me. Every award I have won I take it to my father’s house but not this one. This one is in my house and it’s the first thing you see when you get into the house,” she added.
