Details have now emerged on how DP William Ruto pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta, through the Catholic Archbishop Cardinal John Njue, to grant him an audience.
On Wednesday evening, the media was awash of a 3-hour meeting between President Uhuru and his Deputy where the BBI report was discussed. According to a source who spoke to this writer on condition of anonymity, the meeting did not last an hour, unlike what was earlier reported.
During the meeting, President Uhuru is said to have told his Deputy the BBI process did not start the other day, and that it has been a culmination of activities that kicked off at Harambee House, on March 9th, 2018.
”The president made his stand known. He reminded the DP BBI push has not been about politics. He was firm on his words and said Kenya was a democracy where the people will decide BBI’s fate,” one source told Kenyan Report.
The Head of State was also cognizant of the fact that the church has been used by Tanga Tanga politicians to not only sabotage the BBI process but also to also fight the unity initiative by President Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
