Harambee Stars wasted the chance to ignite their stuttering form when they were held to 1-1 draw by Rwanda in their World Cup qualifiers Group E on Sunday.
The result was second Kenya’s second consecutive draw in Group E, having been forced to a dull 0-0 draw against neighbors uganda on Wednesday in Nairobi.
The Harambee Stars enjoyed a dream start when Michael Olunga put them ahead in the 10th but Rwanda squandered opportunities and paid dearly when Abdul Rwatubyaye swept in an equaliser 11 minutes later.
Olunga almost bagged the second goal for Kenya with a sumptuous free kick from outside the box but the goalkeeper made a wonderful save forcing a corner.
Olunga was at it again and missed a goal scoring opportunity in the 59th minute after getting past the host defender, but his shot went over the bar.
Both sides pushed for the winnig goal which never came, with clear chances being few and far between.
The draw left kenyan at the second of Group E with two points, one point behind group leaders Mali who play Uganda on Monday.
