Governor Kiraitu Murungi has tested positive for Covid-19

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has tested positive for Covid-19 barely a day after he received the covid-19 vaccine.

This was confirmed by Meru county Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu. He however stated that the governor is okay and in isolation as was advised by his doctors.

“We thank God because he is quite okay, he is doing quite well. He has been advised by the doctors to do self-isolation and he will be back after few days,” Meru deputy governor Titus Ntuchiu said.

He advised Meru residents to take precautions given by the ministry of health noting that the current third wave of the corona virus is dangerous.

“I want to caution all the Meru people that this wave is very strong and it’s here with us. I want to advise everyone to take the measures given by the MOH. Let us always wash our hands with soap and water, wear masks, keep a safe distance so that we can be able to avoid this disease,” he advised.

This comes after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga had also tested positive for the virus on March 11, 2021 after he was hospitalized at Nairobi hospital.

Raila was discharged a few days later and he shared a video on his social media pages, thanking his doctors and assuring his followers that he was feeling better.

“It is wonderful. It is so nice to be back home. It was like a prison back there. I like to be in the fresh air and to see nature. I will be strictly self-isolating until further notice,” Raila said.

The former Prime Minister was advised by his doctors to go for isolation.
