Big blow to the embattled former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu after the government’s move to seize his luxurious vehicles and multi-million property.
The government on Wednesday 6 May impounded vehicles registered under the former Kiambu Governor, and the vehicles seized by the authority included Range Rover, Toyota V8, Mercedes-Benz, Prado, Tractors, Tippers, Transport lorries, Vans, Petroleum Tankers, and Trailers.
The government’s decision to seize Waititu’s multi-million wealth came after the former county chief allegedly failed to explain how he acquired all these assets in cash within two years of his regime without a bank loan or other known sources of income.
Waititu early this year was impeached in connection with office abuse and graft charges after an overwhelming vote by the Senate, paving the way to his Deputy James Nyoro who took over the office as the third governor for Kiambu County.
The debate before the vote was so charged and openly showed political differences between the Tangatanga function allied to the Deputy President William Ruto and Kieleweke function allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
