Gor Mahia beat AFC leopards 1-0 in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) to record another routine win in the Mashemeji derby at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.
Boniface Omondi was Gor’s hero in the Mashujaa fixture, scoring the winner in the 25th minute after AFC leopards goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili came off his line and failed to deal with the ball in a danger area. the winger picked up the loose ball and calmly slotted into an empty net.
The two most storied clubs in Kenya were meeting in the 90th time in the top-flight with Gor Mahia basting a slight head to head record.
The last time leopards beat Gor was in a second leg match in 2016.
The win takes Gor’s tally to six points and extend their winning run in the derby.
In other matches, Posta Rangers registered their second consecutive win of the season after beating Bandari 2-0 at Mbaraki stadium.
At thika Stadium, Sofapaka fell 2-1 to Mathare United. Danson Kago’s double saw Mathare lead 2-0 in the first 15 minutes of the match. Joe Waithira scored a consolation goal for Mathare.
