A few years ago, Goldalyn Kakuya, a very bright girl made the headlines when she was among the top pupils in the country in the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exams.
She even went ahead to give a lecture at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to the chagrin of many Kenyans who were displeased with the move with reactions stating she did not have the capacity to lecture university students.
She was admitted to Kenya High School which is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country but according to our sources, she did not complete her studies here.
According to reports, Goldalyn Kakuya was taken from Kenya High School and taken to Brookhouse School by the First Lady, Margret Kenyatta.
Here, she completed her IGCSE studies which is an international system and came second in her school behind another bright student known as Theuri.
After her year 11 at Brookhouse, she went on to the Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level in subsequent years 12 and 13 and she will be sitting her final A-level exam in 2022, before advancing to the university of her choice.
Goldalyn had outstanding grades in the year’s examinations, earning eight A*s and two As. Students can choose from nine disciplines, with Math, English Language, English Literature, and at least one scientific subject being required.
Eric Mulindi, the head teacher of Brookhouse Schools, praised the performance, calling it a team effort by the children and staff. Nominated Senator, who had been impressed by Gakuya’s performance, congratulated her on her accomplishments.
“Our little girl is still topping in her class with straight As. I am glad to have been her destiny connector to study at the prestigious Brookhouse School courtesy of the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta after we took her to meet the President. Truly proud of her,” Mwaura wrote.
Apart from Kakuya, the top 2018 KCPE top candidate Olive Wachira, who achieved 453 points, was also sponsored to attend Brookhouse School by the Margaret Kenyatta Foundation.
Under the Magoha period, Kakuya’s record has yet to be broken, with Olivia coming the closest. Marita Nyakundi Calvin, on the other hand, holds the record for the highest KCPE score, with 482 out of 500 in 2003.
